Canadian Premier League clubs and players are always online. Being online is great. You’re online right now. Isn’t this nice? A benefit to having the WiFi running like a cozy fireplace this winter? Seeing fun stuff happen. This week saw a flurry of submissions to the “Dolly Parton Challenge” hit the Canadian soccer landscape. A viral trend started by the legendary country singer herself, each meme features a photo for social media networks LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Tinder. How you want to be perceived to a group of professional peers on LinkedIn is a lot different – one would hope – than on a dating app such as Tinder. Makes sense? Most CPL clubs got in on the fun, offering some of their more aesthetically-pleasing players and coaches forward to be properly enshrined in meme form. Quickly, before we begin: We need a Dolly Parton Challenge featuring Cavalry FC coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. His suits would work for all four, no? Until Wheeldon Jr. gets involved, here are some of the best Dolly Parton memes we found from the Canadian soccer world.
