York United midfielder Mo Babouli has been named the Canadian Premier League’s Player of the Month for July of 2024. The 31-year-old scored three goals and added an assist during an undefeated month of July for York United, including wins Halifax Wanderers, Cavalry FC and top-of-the-table Atlético Ottawa, while drawing with Vancouver FC on the road. In particular, a stunning free-kick he scored against Cavalry FC in a 2-1 win at ATCO Field back on July 13, nominated for CPL Goal of the Month, was a memorable moment from Babouli’s July performances.
Babouli is the first York player to win the award this season, following Forge’s Tristan Borges (April), Atlético Ottawa’s Rubén del Campo (May) and Forge’s Kwasi Poku (June).
