Alexander Achinioti-Jönsson has officially made his 200th appearance for Forge FC, becoming the first player in Canadian Premier League history to reach that milestone with a single club.
The Swedish midfielder joined Forge in January 2019 ahead of the league’s inaugural season and debuted in the CPL’s first-ever match on April 27, 2019. Since then, he has become one of the league’s most consistent and versatile performers—appearing in 166 CPL matches, 17 Canadian Championship fixtures, and 17 Concacaf competitions.
A constant presence in the lineup, Achinioti-Jönsson played 27 of 28 matches in his first season and helped Forge win the league’s inaugural championship. One year later, he scored the winning goal in the 2020 CPL Final. Now in his sixth season, he has played a key role in all four of Forge’s title-winning campaigns (2019, 2020, 2022, 2023).
In 2022, he spent much of the year at centre-back due to team injuries and excelled in the role—earning Defender of the Year honours and a nomination for CPL Player of the Year. He was also named to the CPL Best XI in 2020.
Over his 200 appearances, Achinioti-Jönsson has recorded more than 13,600 minutes, eight goals, three assists, and no red cards. Earlier this year, he was officially granted domestic status, a reflection of his long-standing commitment to both the club and the city of Hamilton.
As the first CPL player to reach this milestone with one team, Achinioti-Jönsson’s 200 appearances represent not only individual durability and performance, but also the culture of continuity and success that Forge has built since day one.
Forge FC congratulates Alexander Achinioti-Jönsson on this historic achievement.
