On Tuesday, Canada Soccer unveiled its squad for the 2026 Concacaf U-20 qualifiers in Nicaragua.
The competition serves as the qualification pathway for this summer's Concacaf U-20 Championship.
Canada were drawn into Group F with Nicaragua, Aruba, Martinique and the U.S. Virgin Islands, playing matches between Feb. 26 and March 4. The six group winners will qualify for the 12-team 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship.
Five Canadian Premier League players have been called up for the competition: Forge FC pair Zayne Bruno and Emmanuel Marmolejo, Inter Toronto's Shola Jimoh, Cavalry FC's James McGlinchey and Atlético Ottawa's Sergei Kozlovskiy.
Jimoh, 17, recently earned his first Canadian men's national team senior call-up, starting in a 1-0 victory over Guatemala on January 17. Both he and Kozlovskiy recently represented Canada at the U-17 World Cup in November — both scoring during the tournament.
Canada begin the qualification cycle looking for their first U-20 World Cup appearance since hosting in 2007. But first, they will need to take care of business down in Nicaragua in order to get into the main qualifying tournament.
The 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship, played between July 25 and Aug. 9, will qualify four teams for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. That competition will also serve as the Concacaf qualifier for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
