Canadian soccer players and coaches took to social media en masse to support the Black Lives Matter movement on Tuesday. Protests have erupted across the world in the wake of George Floyd’s death at the hands of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and for other victims of police brutality. A day dominated by #BlackOutTuesday showings of solidarity saw Canadian soccer’s best use their platform to elevate the conversation by challenging their followers on what race means in society, the issue of white privilege, and more. There is a lot to listen to and learn from. Let’s keep the conversation going.
