The Canadian men’s national team will be looking to create just the latest milestone moment against Jamaica at BMO Field when they take on the Reggae Boyz in a pair of Concacaf Nations League quarter-final matches in November. The two-legged tie will open on Friday, November 17 in Jamaica, before the second leg goes Tuesday, November 21 at BMO Field in Toronto. The matches will also serve as a qualifier for the 2024 Copa America tournament, set to be hosted in the United States in June of next year. The four Concacaf Nations League quarter-final winners will qualify for the Copa America, while the four losing sides in that round will playoff against each other for the final two spots in March. Canada, however, won’t be looking to leave things to a second chance. The program has a great history against Jamaica, having defeated them 4-0 in March of 2022 to officially secure a spot at the 2022 World Cup. The women’s national team also recently defeated Jamaica 2-1 at BMO Field to secure a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Jamaica, however, have retooled since then, making them a tricky opponent for Canada. They recently went undefeated to top their Nations League group, beating Honduras, Grenada and Haiti, while also tying Haiti at home. Their squad features the likes of former Everton attacker Demarai Gray, Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey and West Ham star Michail Antonio. The other matchups in the Nations League quarterfinals include Honduras taking on Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago against the United States and Costa Rica facing Panama. The winners of this round will also advance to the Concacaf Nations League Final Four, which will be played in March. Canada were the runners-up to the United States in the most recent edition of the Concacaf Nations League, losing the final 2-0.
