Canada Soccer announced on Thursday that the Canadian men’s national team will be taking on the Netherlands in an international friendly on Thursday, June 6. The team will travel to Rotterdam’s Stadion Feijenoord to take on the Oranje, who are currently ranked sixth in the world by FIFA. The match is currently set to kick off at 2:45 p.m. ET / 11:45 a.m. PT. Canada has only ever played the Netherlands one prior time when they met in June of 1994 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. Ideally, this match will be used as preparation for the 2024 Copa América, which kicks off on June 20 in the United States. Canada will look to qualify for that tournament through a play-in match against Trinidad and Tobago on March 23 in Frisco, Texas. Should they defeat the Soca Warriors, the CanMNT will play in the tournament’s opening match on June 20 against World Cup champions Argentina at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Group A also includes Peru and Chile. Canada Soccer further announced that they are actively looking to schedule another opponent during the June window.
