Canada Soccer announced on Tuesday that the Canadian men’s national team will add another friendly match to its 2024 calendar, as they’ll take on the United States on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City. This will be the first match of the September international window for Canada, who will also take on Mexico on Sept. 10 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The most recent meeting between Canada and the United States was at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, where the U.S. won the quarter-final matchup on penalties after a 2-2 draw. The Americans have won the last two matches they’ve played against Canada, including the 2023 Concacaf Nations League Final, but prior to that Canada beat them 2-0 at Tim Hortons Field in World Cup Qualifying. Overall, Canada have a 10-13-17 record against the U.S. “We’re excited about this friendly match in September against our biggest Concacaf rivals,” Canadian head coach Jesse Marsch said in a release. “This is yet another opportunity to continue our preparation for the 2026 World Cup by playing high-quality opponents.” In the latest FIFA World Rankings, the U.S. were the top-ranked side from Concacaf at 11th, 37 spots ahead of 48th-placed Canada.
