Cavalry FC have kicked off the new year with a splash, announcing on Thursday that the club has signed goalkeeper Nathan Ingham to a contract through the 2028 Canadian Premier League season.
Ingham, a 32-year-old native of Keswick, Ont., comes to Calgary as a reigning CPL champion, having won the North Star Cup with Atlético Ottawa in 2025. He captained the capital city club in the CPL Final against Cavalry, but will suit up for Tommy Wheeldon Jr.’s Cavs in his eighth CPL season.
A two-time Golden Glove nominee — most recently in 2025 — Ingham has been one of the CPL’s stalwart goalkeepers since day one. He began his time in the league in 2019 as the starter for York9 FC (now Inter Toronto), playing there for three years before joining Ottawa in 2022. In addition to the championship he won this past season, Ingham won a regular season title in 2022 with Atlético.
He has played a total of 148 career CPL games, plus eight playoff matches including two CPL Finals. Ingham boasts 54 career clean sheets from his time with York and Ottawa, including 48 in the CPL regular season — second-most on the league’s all-time leaderboard.
This past year with Atleti, Ingham played every single game for the club and posted 11 clean sheets, shepherding his team behind a very young defensive line.
“I can’t wait to get to Calgary and to get started,” said Ingham in a statement. “Between the coaching staff and the squad, there are a lot of guys that I’m excited to work with. My goal is to make this club better. That is a big task considering the pedigree, but I’m determined to help take it to another level.”
Prior to joining the CPL for the league’s inaugural season, Ingham played for a variety of clubs across the NASL and USL, including FC Edmonton and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He’s also no stranger to Calgary, having played for the Calgary Foothills in 2018, winning a Premier Development League championship that season.
