Ali Musse will serve a three-game suspension after the Canada Soccer Disciplinary Panel rejected Cavalry FC’s appeal of the red card issued to the forward following last weekend’s match against York United FC.

Musse was red carded for violent conduct after the final whistle of Cavalry’s match against York United on Sunday, July 26. Cavalry appealed the red card earlier this week, on the grounds of excessive punishment. The Canada Soccer Disciplinary Panel, which is responsible for reviewing red card appeals by CPL clubs, rejected the claim following a virtual hearing on Friday.

Musse has already missed one match, Tuesday’s game at Valour FC, which counts toward his three-game suspension. He will also be suspended for Cavalry’s upcoming visit to Pacific FC on Monday, August 3 and its home match against Halifax Wanderers on Saturday, Aug. 9.
