As part of the CPL Schedule Release presented by WestJet, we're counting down to kickoff by spotlighting one key date in the 2026 calendar every week until April 4.

This year, Canada Day is going be a cause for extra fireworks across the Canadian Premier League.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, a thrilling CPL double-header will see a pair of marquee matchups involving some of the league's top clubs.

The festivities begin at Hamilton Stadium, where CPL Shield holders Forge host Vancouver FC (1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT). This this the first time Forge have hosted a match on Canada Day.

The Eagles have always proven to be a tricky opponent for the Hammers over the year, and would love nothing more than to celebrate the national holiday with a statement win over the Hamilton club.

Later in the day, it's another Canada Day afternoon classic at the Wanderers Grounds. The Halifax Wanderers look to make it three straight years with July 1 home victories when they welcome CPL champions Atlético Ottawa (4 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. AT).

Atleti, however, have mostly enjoyed their trips to the East Coast over the past few years as the only club in the league to win at the Wanderers Grounds in each of the past two seasons.

With all eyes on Canadian soccer as the summer's World Cup reaches its knockout stage, Canada Day 2026 will be an outstanding celebration of the sport in this country.
