FC Supra du Québec today announced a pair of midfield moves, adding championship pedigree and emerging talent to its inaugural Canadian Premier League (CPL) roster by signing three-time CPL champion Aboubacar Sissoko and U SPORTS and CS Saint-Laurent alum Wesley Wandje.
Sissoko, 30, and Wandje, 25 — both alumni of Ligue1 Québec and the Université de Montréal men’s soccer program — each bring CPL experience to FC Supra. They join an already impressive core that also includes CPL-experienced players David Choinière, Sean Rea, and Loïc Kwemi.
The two midfielders are the first players announced to Supra’s roster in 2026, the year the club will play its first CPL match. Additional signings are expected to be announced in the coming days of the opening of the club’s training camp later this month.
Sissoko joins FC Supra after two seasons with Atlético Ottawa, where he helped the club capture the 2025 CPL Championship during the viral “Icicle Kick” match by making a goal-line save with 10 minutes to play in regular time. The defensive midfielder made 59 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring five goals and adding two assists.
Prior to his time in the nation’s capital, Sissoko spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with Forge FC, where he captured two CPL Championships and competed in the Concacaf Champions Cup. Between Ottawa, Forge, and the Halifax Wanderers, where he signed his first professional contract ahead of the 2020 season, Sissoko has amassed 134 appearances for CPL clubs in all competitions, recording 11 goals and seven assists.
“At this stage of my career, the chance to play at home and be part of something new is incredibly meaningful,” said Sissoko. “I’ve experienced a lot in this league, and now it’s about using that experience to help build a culture, support the next generation, and push this club forward from the very beginning.”
Wandje signs with FC Supra after previously representing former CPL side Valour FC in 2025 on a CPL-U SPORTS contract, which allows a student-athlete to maintain U SPORTS eligibility while gaining experience in a professional environment. He made three appearances for the club during his time in Winnipeg, Man. last year.
“This is a huge step in my career,” said Wandje. “To take it at home with FC Supra du Québec means a lot, and I’m ready to put in the work and prove myself every day.”
Both Sissoko and Wandje spent several years developing within the Montreal youth soccer system and in Ligue1 Québec. Sissoko played youth soccer with CS Mont-Royal Outremont before moving on to CS Longueuil and CS Saint-Hubert, while Wandje has represented CS St-Hubert and CS Saint-Laurent.
At the university level, Sissoko helped the Carabins reach the U SPORTS national championship in three consecutive seasons from 2017 to 2019, capturing the national title in 2018. He was named U SPORTS Athlete of the Year for 2019–20, becoming the first Carabins athlete to receive the honour.
