2025 Team of the Week 09

Goalkeeper

Marco Carducci (Cavalry FC)

A brilliant month of May continued for Carducci in Hamilton on Saturday, where he made four saves in a 1-1 draw with Forge. That included outstanding stops on a Kyle Bekker shot from distance, and a one-v-one situation with Brian Wright in the first half.

Defenders

Kevin Dos Santos (Atlético Ottawa)

Dos Santos played a lovely ball to assist on Sam Salter's goal against Vancouver FC on Friday. He created four chances, and played 10 crosses during the match.

Elijah Adekugbe (York United)

Adekugbe's return to the lineup has undoubtedly been a big boost for the Nine Stripes, as he helped them keep a second consecutive clean sheet while playing as a central defender. He completed 57 of 60 passes, and made five clearances against Halifax on Saturday.

Malik Owolabi-Belewu (Forge FC)

The Forge central defender was excellent against Cavalry FC on Saturday. He completed a tidy 33 of his 36 passes, while winning possession five times, making two interceptions and three clearances.

Orlando Botello (York United)

Botello was lively down the left flank on Saturday for York United, setting up their opener in a 2-0 victory over the Halifax Wanderers. He finished with two chances created, and contested 16 duels.

Midfielders

Nana Ampomah (Forge FC)

Ampomah was the spark of Forge's attack on Saturday against Cavalry, and was perhaps unlucky to finish with just one goal to show for his efforts. He took three shots, and created four chances, while playing a stunning 12 crosses during a dominant performance.

Emrick Fotsing (Vancouver FC)

The 17-year-old midfielder scored his first professional goal in a 2-2 draw with Atlético Ottawa on Friday. He also won six of eight duels, and possession eight times.

Steffen Yeates (York United)

Yeates scored a late insurance marker to secure victory for York United against the Halifax Wanderers in Québec City on Saturday. He also won five of six duels during a tidy performance in midfield.

Kembo Kibato (York United)

Beside Yeates, Kibato was just as excellent in midfield. He completed three of three attempted dribbles, won nine of 14 duels and three of three tackles during one of his best performances in a York United shirt.

Forwards

Julian Altobelli (York United)

Altobelli just can't stop scoring as he kept pace with Samuel Salter in the league's Golden Boot race with his seventh of the season to open the scoring against the Halifax Wanderers on Saturday. The goal stood as his match winner, and he has now scored the winner in all three York United victories this season.

Samuel Salter (Atlético Ottawa)

The Atleti striker scored his sixth of the month of May to ignite a comeback for Atleti against Vancouver FC in a 2-2 draw on Friday. He finished with a stunning eight shots, five of which were on target.
