The Canadian Premier League season may be over, but a few CPLers have still been in action this week all over the globe.

Several players who suited up in the league in 2025 represented their countries in international football in the November window, and a few of them helped their sides to some huge results.

Also, a quick congratulations to a couple of former CPLers: ex-Forge FC players Garven Metusala and Woobens Pacius have qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Haiti.

Here's a round-up of what CPL players have been up to recently on the international stage.

Canada U-17

Shola Jimoh (York United), Sergei Kozlovskiy (Atlético Ottawa)

It's older news now, but Jimoh and Kozlovskiy were both part of the Canada side that made history at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar. Entering this year's competition, Canada had never won a match at a U-17 World Cup, let alone advanced from the group stage.

However, a comeback win over Uganda and a 0-0 draw with France helped Canada finish second in Group K.

In the round of 32, Canada squared off against the Republic of Ireland (including former Canadian youth international and ex-Vancouver FC standout Grady McDonnell).

The Canadians fell behind early, but Kozlovskiy — who had missed the prior three games with an injury — came off the bench, and the Atlético Ottawa teenager scored an outstanding volley in the 85th minute to send the game to penalties. Kozlovskiy would score his own spot kick, but Canada did ultimately lose the 10-round shootout.

Jimoh, meanwhile, had an excellent tournament, appearing in all of Canada's matches and starting the final three. He scored the opening goal against Chile in the third group match, as well.

Bangladesh

Shamit Shome (Cavalry FC)

The Cavalry midfielder has become a star in Bangladesh after declaring for the country and making his debut last June.

Shome has played a major role for the national team in this window, playing 45 minutes last week in a 2-2 draw against Nepal then going the full 90 on Tuesday in an AFC Asian Cup qualifier against India.

The latter was a particularly special moment for Bangladesh, who hadn't beaten rivals India for 22 years. This time, however, Shome and his side managed to claw out a 1-0 win, delivering a massive result to home fans in Dhaka.

Unfortunately, Bangladesh are already out of contention to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup, but Shome and co. will nonetheless enjoy this win.

Somalia

Ali Musse (Cavalry FC)

Speaking of historic international wins, Cavalry winger Ali Musse was part of the Ocean Stars side who defeated Bahrain in a friendly on Monday.

Somalia, ranked 202nd in the world, beat 90th-ranked Bahrain to break a seven-year winless run.

One other familiar face to the CPL played a part in this one: former Halifax Wanderers midfielder Mo Omar scored one of Somalia's goals.

Musse has eight total caps for his country, and will likely play an important role in Somalia's upcoming must-win FIFA Arab Cup qualifier against Oman on Nov. 26.

Equatorial Guinea

Rony Mbomio (Atlético Ottawa)

Remaining in CAF, Equatorial Guinea called up Ottawa loanee (from Atlético Madrid C) Roni Mbomio for friendlies against Kenya and Madagascar in this window, both played in Turkey. Mbomio was a substitute for both matches, but did feature as he made his international debut against Madagascar.

Moldova

Mihail Gherasimencov (Cavalry FC)

The 20-year-old full-back, on loan at Cavalry this year from Whitecaps FC 2, graduated from Moldova's youth system to the senior national team recently.

The Tricolorii played two World Cup qualifiers this window against Italy and Israel. Gherasimencov did not feature in the 2-0 defeat to Italy, but he did play the full 90 minutes as a centre-back in Moldova's loss to Israel on Sunday.

Moldova did not manage to qualify for this summer's World Cup, finishing bottom of Group I after collecting just one point (a draw with Estonia, in which Gherasimencov played 90).

Trinidad and Tobago

Andre Rampersad, Ryan Telfer (Halifax Wanderers FC), Steffen Yeates (York United FC)

Trinidad's World Cup dreams have unfortunately been dashed, as they finished third in Group H of Concacaf qualifying.

In this window, the Soca Warriors picked up draws against both Jamaica and Bermuda. Rampersad started both clashes, and Yeates and Telfer, unused subs in the first match, both got the start against Bermuda.

They were unable to climb into the top two of the group and book a spot in the inter-continental playoffs, finishing four points behind Jamaica and five back of automatic qualifiers Curaçao.

Lebanon

Gabriel Bitar (York United FC)

Bitar came off the bench for the final 16 minutes of Lebanon's AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Brunei, which they won 3-0 in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Lebanon are currently leading Group B in the third round of qualifying with an unbeaten record. They have one match remaining against second-place Yemen, who trail by just two points. Only the group winner qualifies for the Asian Cup.

After competing for Lebanon at the last Asian Cup in 2024, Bitar will be keen to help his national team return to that stage.

Algeria A'

Rayane Yesli (Halifax Wanderers FC)

For a second consecutive window, the Wanderers goalkeeper was called up to play for an Algeria A' squad. He started in Monday's friendly match against Egypt, keeping a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw.

He was also on the bench for a 3-2 loss to the same Egypt side on Friday.

El Salvador U-17

Anthony Umanzor (York United FC)

The York United academy standout joined El Salvador at the U-17 World Cup, where he played 90 minutes in all three of their group stage matches.

The Salvadoran side lost to North Korea and Germany, but managed a draw against Colombia.
