It'll be a full house in Victoria this Saturday for the Downtown Derby vs. Vancouver FC.

Pacific FC's match this Saturday, Sept. 13 at Victoria's Royal Athletic Park is fully sold out, the club confirmed on Thursday.

The Downtown Derby, as it's been dubbed, will see the Tridents take on B.C. rivals Vancouver FC in a special matchup at the historic stadium in central Victoria.

"We are excited to play this B.C derby in downtown Victoria this weekend and the response from fans has been exceptional," said Pacific's managing director Ross Marshall. "We look forward to having the community out in full force for the shared love of the game."

Victoria's Royal Athletic Park has a long sporting history dating back as far as the early 1900s, and has hosted a number of major soccer games. The Canadian men's national team has played there on several occasions, including two World Cup Qualifying matches in 1985 as part of their successful qualification campaign for the 1986 tournament. The CanMNT's most recent match at the venue was a 1993 friendly against South Korea.

Renowned Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham have also played friendlies against local Victoria sides at the stadium, and the venue also hosted matches at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

More recently, the Royal Athletic Park hosted a CFL preseason game featuring the BC Lions in 2024, and it's the current home of the Victoria HarbourCats baseball team.

This will be Pacific's fifth meeting with their derby rivals in 2025, and the final one this season. The two sides have produced some spectacular matches in recent memory, including a dramatic Canadian Championship clash which Vancouver won on penalties. The two clubs also played to a thrilling 4-4 draw earlier this year, and Pacific won the most recent meeting 3-2 with a brace from Alejandro Díaz.

Saturday's contest is sure to be another entertaining one, and there will be a raucous crowd on hand in downtown Victoria to see it.
