Atlético Ottawa striker Samuel Salter has been named the Canadian Premier League's Player of the Month for May 2025.
Salter follows teammate David Rodríguez (Player of the Month for April) as the second Ottawa player to win the award this season, and he earned this nod after a blistering run of form in May which saw him shoot into a tie for the CPL's Golden Boot lead.
The native of Laval, Québec scored six goals in five games in May, including four in one match against Valour FC on May 10. He's the first player in CPL history to record a four-goal game, and also the first Atlético Ottawa player to score a hat-trick. Salter also had two assists on May 3 in a win over Pacific FC, continuing to thrive in Atleti's red-hot attack.
In the 2025 season so far, Salter leads the CPL in shots with 35, as well as shots on target (18) and big chances (13). His seven total goals this season puts him level with York United's Julian Altobelli for the scoring lead, both of them having played nine CPL matches this year.
Salter has been a crucial part of Atlético Ottawa's red-hot attack, which leads the CPL with 24 goals scored this season, including 12 in May. They remain in first place in the CPL through nine weeks, with a 2-2-1 record in the past month.
