Cavalry FC have struck first in the 2025 CPL Final, as Fraser Aird slotted home from the penalty spot to put his side ahead in the 33rd minute, before fittingly running off to celebrate in the snow at TD Place.

The play started with Cavalry winger, Goteh Ntignee, who danced into the box with the ball at his feet, before he was taken down by Atlético Ottawa wing back, Kevin dos Santos, for the penalty.

From there, up stepped Aird, and the Cavalry full back made no mistake with the attempt, putting his team up 1-0.

This is the third straight final in which Cavalry has opened the scoring - they also opened the scoring in the 2024 final from the penalty spot, although that time it was Tobias Warschewski who convereted the attempt.
