Join us this Saturday as Vancouver FC look to extend their unbeaten streak when they take on the formidable Halifax Wanderers in CPL action at Willoughby Community Park.
Currently sitting in sixth place, Vancouver FC has found their rhythm in recent weeks, going undefeated in their last four matches. Their run started with hard-fought 1-1 draws against defending CPL champions Cavalry FC and their Salish Sea rivals Pacific FC in regular season play in April, followed by a crucial 3-1 win against Valour FC on May 3 that saw the young team start to build momentum.
Bolstered by the addition of several new international players, the squad has continued to gain confidence, and this was no more evident than when they faced Pacific FC last week in the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship Preliminary Round game at Starlight Stadium. The single knockout match was still in a 1-1 draw at full time, so it headed into a dramatic penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Callum Irving emerged as the hero, making two crucial saves, before David Norman Jr. slotted home the decisive penalty to secure Vancouver FC’s progression to the quarterfinals. The victory set up an exciting two-
match series against Cavalry FC in the next round with the first game being hosted by Vancouver FC on May 21.
This means that this weekend’s regular season game against the second-place HFX Wanderers will be the strong challenge they need as preparation. Halifax is coming off a tough home loss to Cavalry FC last week and will be looking to come back with energy and the finishing touch they were missing in their last game.
Fans won’t want to miss this showdown as Vancouver FC aims to continue the momentum and build for a Canadian Championship run.
