Vancouver FC was pleased to celebrate the conclusion of another successful season with the second annual Player Awards Banquet. The event brought together fans, partners, owners, and front-office and football operations staff, providing a valuable opportunity to connect, reflect on the past season, and look ahead to what comes next. All proceeds from the evening were directed to Net Positive Football Society, our charitable partner dedicated to growing the game and expanding access to soccer in local communities in support of Vancouver FC.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural banquet, this year’s edition delivered an even more memorable evening for everyone in attendance. For those unable to join in person, participation was strong through the 50/50 draw. The sold-out event also featured a silent auction with more than 15 items, ranging from game-worn Canadian Championship Final jerseys to an official Trionda match ball, as the Valley prepared to welcome the world next season.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the player awards. The night began with the Community Leader of the Year Award, presented to Matteo Campagna. He participated in more community and school visits than any other player, an incredible commitment to our community from a local lad of just 21 years of age. His dedication continues to support VFC’s mission on and off the pitch.
Next, the Fan’s Choice Player of the Year, a fully fan-voted award conducted across VFC’s digital platforms, went to Thierno Bah by a clear margin. His impact was widely recognized this season. Already named the 2025 Fraser Valley Fanatics Player of the Year, Bah also claimed the U-21 Player of the Year award for his outstanding campaign.
In the second half of the program, the U-19 Player of the Year award was presented to Axl De Vries, a leader within the VFC Academy both on and off the field, who then embarked on a new chapter as part of the SFU men’s soccer program.
The Partner of the Year Award went to Camp Beer. Their consistent support from day one included co-hosting numerous fan events and helping bring matchdays to life through live music and custom “Valley Lager” beer cans. Their engagement played a meaningful role in VFC’s season.
Finally, the Player of the Year Award was presented to goalkeeper and club captain Callum Irving, recognizing his exceptional performances, leadership, and invaluable presence throughout the season. This marked Callum’s second Player of the Year honour.
The evening concluded with remarks from Dean Shillington and Rob Friend, SixFive Sports & Entertainment Managing Partners and Club President, as well as a special message from Martin Nash, interim head coach for the 2025 season, who offered attendees an optimistic glimpse into 2026.
Vancouver FC extends its sincere gratitude to everyone whose support made this season so special. Here is to the journey ahead in 2026 and to the next chapter in the story our club continues to write.
