Vancouver FC is delighted to share that midfielder Emrick Fotsing has achieved another major international milestone, continuing his rapid rise after earning his first call-up to Canada’s U-18 National Team earlier this year.
The 18-year-old standout has now been named to Canada’s U-20 National Team for an upcoming preparation camp in Costa Rica, marking his second appearance at the international level and another important step in his development at the highest stages of the game.
During the camp, Canada is scheduled to face Costa Rica on December 18, followed by a second match on December 21 against an opponent yet to be announced. The matches will provide Emrick with a valuable opportunity to test himself against international competition and further demonstrate his qualities on a global platform.
The Costa Rica camp represents the final stage of preparation ahead of Canada’s U-20 World Cup 2027 qualifying campaign, set to begin in late February 2026. Surrounded by some of the country’s top emerging talents, many developing in elite environments worldwide, Emrick will keep collecting critical experience as he continues to refine his game.
“This call-up means a lot to my career,” said Emrick Fotsing. “It shows that people recognize the hard work I’ve put in and that I’m on the right path to one day be part of the men’s team. I expect the team to be even better this time around, we gained valuable experience from the last couple of games, and now we know each other better. Fotsing will rejoin the Eagles in early January as the club begins its offseason preparations for the upcoming Canadian Premier League campaign, as well as the Concacaf Champions Cup Round One matchup against Mexican giants and defending champions Cruz Azul in early February.
