Toronto, ON – August 5, 2025 – Kemari Record-Wright was five years old when he first started playing soccer. His older brother, a goalkeeper, was the one who pulled him in. That relationship shaped how he approached the game and why he still plays today.
“I really just want to finish what he started,” he says. “That’s always been my goal.”
Now 17, Kemari is a full-time member of the York United FC Academy and preparing to represent Team Ontario at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. His story is about growth, learning and stepping into the next phase of his development.
In this episode of The Pathway, we follow him through a series of moments that reflect his time at the club so far: training sessions, League1 Ontario matches, and community events. The video captures a player who has embraced change, adapted to new challenges, and continues to move forward with purpose.
“Since I’ve been here, everything has backed my decision,” he says. “The group, the coaching staff, the energy. I’ve learned a lot about work rate and versatility.”
His time at the Academy has already brought him closer to the professional level. He’s been involved in First Team sessions, where the standard is clear and the margin for error is smaller. For a young player with ambition, the experience left a mark.
“There was a lot for me to take away,” he says. “Even in one session, you learn quickly.”
Kemari describes himself as someone who wants to impact every part of the game. On the pitch, that means doing his job and helping those around him stay locked in. He’s vocal, focused, and committed to what the team needs.
“I want to lift my teammates. Not just support them, but help keep us all on task. That’s how we get results together.”
Now, with big games ahead, he’s focused on consistency. Showing up with the same intensity every week. Staying ready for what’s next.
Kemari’s story is one of progress, but also identity. He knows what drives him, and he knows where he wants to go. At York United FC, he’s found a system that supports that journey, and helps make it real.
