The Next Gen, presented by Jones Deslauriers | Navacord, honours some of the CPL's top young stars. This year's class features four 2005-born players who stood out in 2025.

At just 20 years of age, Calgary native Niko Myroniuk has already spent four seasons with Cavalry FC.

Having initially joined the club in 2022 on a development contract, he made his debut with the first team in 2023. Since then, the young midfielder has won both a North Star Cup and a CPL Shield with the Calgary club.

This past year, however, was his most productive yet, earning him a place in the CPL's Next Gen class of 2025 presented by Jones Deslauriers | Navacord.

In 2025, Myroniuk made a career-high 16 appearances for the Cavs in all competitions. On April 29, he scored his first professional goal, with a brilliant bardown strike in the 18th minute of a 6-0 Canadian Championship win over Edmonton Scottish.

He then added his first Canadian Premier League goal on the final day of the season in a 2-2 draw with Vancouver FC.

A versatile midfielder who was deployed both as a number six in a double pivot and a number ten this season, Myroniuk showed a good ability to get into dangerous areas and create chances for himself and others.

In the year ahead, he will look to carve out an even more consistent role for himself in Cavalry's deep and dynamic midfield group.
