Toronto, ON – July 17, 2025 – York United FC is proud to recognize Nicholas Harve as the club’s Community Superhero for the month of July, a distinction that honours individuals making meaningful contributions in their communities through leadership, impact and service.

Nicholas is graduating this summer from St. Bishop Morocco, where he captained the school soccer team. He also represents the Toronto Nitros in League1 Ontario and will join York University this fall as a student-athlete. His achievements on the pitch are significant, but it’s his work away from the game that truly reflects what this award represents.

Through his involvement with Project First Nations, Nicholas has supported initiatives that bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth together through sport, education and creative programming. As part of this work, he has travelled to remote communities like Attawapiskat, located on the western shore of James Bay in Northern Ontario, more than 1,000 kilometres from Toronto and nearly 30 hours away by car. Along the way, he also visited Moosonee, a town only accessible by train or plane. The distance, both physical and cultural, was something Nicholas quickly came to understand.

“Canada’s a big place,” he said. “Toronto doesn’t look like Attawapiskat. Every community is different, and it’s important that we learn about each other. That’s how we grow stronger together.”

The soccer camp he helped lead brought dozens of kids together to play, learn and connect. For Nicholas, being able to share his love for the game in that setting was meaningful — not just because of what he taught, but because of what he took away.

“I like to see myself as a leader. I just wanted to pass along whatever knowledge I could. And being up there made me really appreciate what we have here. It’s a different way of life, with fewer resources. But the energy and heart from the kids, that stays with you.”

Now, as he prepares for his next chapter at York University, Nicholas remains focused on growing as a player and as a person. His leadership, empathy and drive to create connection across communities are exactly what the Community Superhero initiative was created to celebrate.
