Toronto, ON – July 10, 2025 – York United FC is pleased to confirm that Joshua Lopez, Kemari Record-Wright, and Anthony Umanzor have been named to Team Ontario’s roster for the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
Set to take place from August 8 to 25 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Canada Summer Games is one of the country’s premier multi-sport events, welcoming more than 3,600 athletes and coaches across 19 disciplines. On the soccer side, Team Ontario will compete against top youth talent from coast to coast in a tournament designed to challenge and elevate the next generation of Canadian players.
The men’s roster was selected through Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel Program, a key component of the Talented Player Pathway and Long-Term Player Development framework. This program identifies standout athletes through platforms such as League1 Ontario, OPDL, and Talent on Location Days, bridging the gap between grassroots, collegiate, national and professional environments.
Both Lopez and Umanzor have already made strides within York United FC’s First Team setup, training consistently with the senior squad and appearing in matchday rosters throughout the 2025 Canadian Premier League season. Record-Wright, a rising presence within the Academy, has continued to develop in a high-performance environment and now earns a well-deserved chance to showcase his talent on the national stage.
All selected players will take part in a pre-tournament training camp at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre from August 3 to 7 as final preparations begin.
York United FC congratulates Joshua, Kemari, and Anthony on this outstanding achievement. Their call-up is a reflection of their dedication and growth, as well as the club’s continued investment in the long-term development of young Canadian talent. We are proud to see them represent Ontario, and carry the values of our club, with pride.
