The 20-year-old made 26 starts for the Halifax Wanderers in 2025.

Cavalry FC's backline makeover continued on Monday with the signing of defender Adam Pearlman on loan from Toronto FC.

The 20-year-old is naturally a central defender, but can also play as a right full-back. The latter position is where he played much of last season on loan with the Halifax Wanderers in the Canadian Premier League.

He will also likely play primarily at that spot for Cavalry, who already boast one of the most formidable central defensive duos in the CPL with Daan Klomp and Amer Didić sitting in front of goalkeeper Nathan Ingham.

In 26 regular season matches for the Wanderers last season, all starts, Pearlman scored twice and added two assists. Defensively, he won possession 60 times in the defensive third, which was the eighth most of any player in the CPL, and won 37 tackles (8th most) with a 64.9 per cent success rate.

“Adam is a versatile defender that fits the way we want to play,” said Cavalry FC head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. “He is a defensive player that takes pride in his defending, whilst also having the ability to add some options into our attacking play. Having played against him a few times now, I love his competitive spirit too.”

Pearlman has been part of the Toronto FC organization since 2016, making one first-team appearance with the club in 2023. He has also played 69 matches for Toronto FC II in MLS Next Pro.

A Canadian youth international, Pearlman played five times for Canada U-20, including at the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship.

In his second CPL season, Pearlman will be among the early favourites for the league's Best Canadian U-21 Player award.

Cavalry begin their 2026 season on the road at Starlight Stadium, where they visit Pacific FC on Sunday, April 5.
