The March FIFA men's international window is upon us, and as usual a handful of Canadian Premier League players are headed around the world to play for a variety of countries.
Five current CPLers have earned call-ups to senior or youth national teams, and will represent four different countries.
Of course, a major shoutout is due to former Cavalry FC striker Aribim Pepple (now with Plymouth Argyle), who earned his first call to Canada's senior national team and could feature for Les Rouges this week in Toronto.
Also Shamit Shome, called up by Bangladesh, made light of his own current status, joking that he's following in a long Canadian tradition of playing for Unattached FC as he looks for a new club for 2026.
Here are the current CPL players who will be headed to represent their country this window.
Andre Rampersad & Ryan Telfer (Halifax Wanderers) — Trinidad and Tobago
As usual, this Wanderers duo is headed to camp with the Soca Warriors. This time, however, they won't be in the Caribbean.
Rampersad and Telfer were both called up to the Trinidad and Tobago squad as that's travelling to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for a pair of FIFA Series 2026 matches against Venezuela (March 27) and Gabon (March 30).
Both players have been key fixtures in the squad recently, including in last autumn's World Cup Qualifiers. Rampersad captained the team for the first time earlier this month, when Trinidad played a friendly against Bolivia in Santa Cruz.
Roni Mbomio (Atlético Ottawa) — Equatorial Guinea
The 20-year-old Atleti defender will also travel across the Atlantic, as he joins the Equatorial Guinea squad for a pair of friendlies in Antalya, Turkey.
They will take on Bahrain on March 26 and Madagascar on March 31.
Mbomio recently signed a permanent deal with Ottawa, after joining the club on loan from Atlético Madrid C for the second half of the 2025 CPL season. He would ultimately start for Atleti in the CPL Final and lift the North Star Cup.
Alexander Bergman (Inter Toronto) — Estonia U-21
Bergman is off to Europe, where he and the Estonian U-21 national team will compete in UEFA European U-21 Championship qualifying. After five matches, Estonia sit at the bottom of Group C with just two points, needing to get into the top two of the six-team group to stand a chance of qualification for the final tournament.
Estonia will play against Iceland in Reykjavik (March 26) before heading to Thun to play Switzerland (March 31).
The Inter Toronto defender has not yet played for the U-21 side, but has experience playing for Estonia at various levels including U-19, U-18 and U-17.
Anthony Umanzor (Inter Toronto) — Guatemala U-20
Eligible for both El Salvador and Guatemala, Umanzor has joined the Guatemalan U-20s for a camp this month. He has previously featured once for their U-17s, but also represented El Salvador last November at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Umanzor, a 17-year-old midfielder, recently signed an Exceptional Young Talent contract with Inter Toronto and will be part of the first team in 2026 after making his pro debut as a development player last year.
