Toronto, ON (May 20, 2025) – York United FC is proud to share that forward Shola Jimoh has been named to Canada Soccer’s preliminary roster for the upcoming 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Jimoh, 17, is one of 60 players selected by Men’s National Team Head Coach Jesse Marsch as Canada begins preparations for this summer’s tournament. The final 23-player squad will be confirmed by June 4 ahead of Canada’s opening fixture against Honduras at BC Place on June 17.
This marks another important milestone in Jimoh’s growing career. The Brampton native has featured in all seven Canadian Premier League matches for York United FC this season, making two starts and registering an assist. His performances continue to reflect the talent and work ethic that have made him one of the most promising young players in the country.
Now in his second season with the Nine Stripes, Jimoh made his professional debut on June 9, 2024, and went on to score four goals in his rookie campaign. His potential has already been recognized on the international stage, with prior involvement in the 2024–25 Concacaf Nations League Finals preliminary squad, as well as a senior national team camp in November 2024. He has also represented Canada at the youth level, playing a key role in U-17 World Cup qualification.
This latest call-up is a reflection of his continued growth and dedication—qualities that define both Jimoh and the York United FC development pathway.
The entire club congratulates Shola on this well-deserved recognition and wishes him continued success as he continues to represent York United FC on the national stage.
